Embassies around the world have issued travel warnings for holiday hotspots in the Philippines. A series of high-profile kidnappings of foreigners have led Western governments to issue alerts for popular destinations, including the Palawan province and the resort islands of Cebu and Bohol. That could spell trouble for vacationers and for the country’s economy, which relies on tourism for 10 percent of its GDP.
