Google is making a real time operating system for the Internet of things. And it isn’t doing it as part of Nest.

Google is making its own version of an operating system for the Internet of things called Brillo, and it’s doing so completely outside of its Nest smart home devices division that currently makes the Nest thermostat and smoke detector and Dropcam connected security cameras.
