FBI and DHS threat assessment warned of lone wolves targeting Las Vegas

Almost a year before the Las Vegas shooting, the FBI and DHS warned that New Year’s Eve celebrations in Las Vegas were vulnerable to attack. A report entitled the “Joint Special Event Threat Assessment” noted that attacks by unaffiliated lone wolves would be hard to prevent, given “their ability to remain undetected until operational.”
